Happy to see the 2021 challenge list come to life! A few remarks, though:
For #2, do we list last year’s date?
#3 is impossible for me, as I have no Facebook account – out of principle. And I will not get one. Challenges requiring you to join a specific company/network/chain should be avoided, IMHO.
#4 collapses with #3 for me – advising against FB and encouraging people to use it contradicts.
Keep going & do hard things! 🥳
Looks good to me! Thanks for being so responsive!
Karsten. Check out the handbook now. I"d love to hear what you think of the changes.
Karsten,
Looking at changing #3 to: " Post to the DHT Facebook Group or DHT website Forum. "
Also, the request or requirement to capture image or video of every challenge and post it, means post anywhere. IE.: IG, FB, blog, forum, personal website, strava, twitter, where ever. - and tag when appropriate , #DHTChallenge32 - effectively this spreads the word about DHT, and gives an opportunity for the community to celebrate with you on your challenges, attempted, completed, or aborted, etc...
What do you think?
H
Those are great ideas! Love it.
Thanks for your feedback, Liesbet & Hans!
Thinking about that issue was what actually made me post here, and that should be THE place for discussion in the DHT community, I think.
But of course to get the word out to others not yet part of this, you should use as many channels as possible, and everyone that has facebook or whatever someone else might not be using, should make noise there! ;)
Maybe you can change #3 into "join Faceboook / follow on Instagram / follow on twitter" instead. And for the team challenges #2 & #5 maybe switch Facebook with this forum? Doesn't help with visibility outside of here immediately, but would be a good "home" for the teams, no?
Have a great weekend!
Karsten, I think Liesbet said it well. We want to be able to easily give you kudos for your efforts. And, have it easy for you to see what others are doing in the DHT Community. We'll broadcast as many ways as we can, and we are open to ways we can receive stories from the community so we can easily share them. The other function is that if we can easily invite others to join us for a day of biking, or an hour of challenges, we want to have that ability as well. whether that is virtually or in person. Open to suggestions . thanks for challenging yourself. Hans
Thanks for your message! I totally hear you about Facebook! We are trying to figure out how to create virtual/long distance community in the easiest and most accessible way possible for the most people. An alternative to Facebook is to use the forum on our website...We'd like to get to something like that eventually... and hope to me moving that direction during the year. But until then, we are struggling with how to build the numbers up and the stoke up to move through the barrier of "one more ap" by using social media. All that said... in the style sheet (which is coming) you will see that we are open to working with barriers to challenges... like not wanting to use Facebook... and adapting the challenge. We also have many who may not use Gmail... but that's the only way we've been able to create an editable place for all to track challenges. We are not aware of anything else we could use without a huge money investment. We would love suggestions to tackle all these challenges. Regarding challenge number 2, if you are already a member you can check that off as done. Regarding 3&4. Let's brainstorm! Thanks again... you brought up some concerns we already had. I'm so happy to have you there with us and hope you can help us solve this challenge! Hey... that's an option, "propose another strategy for meeting the need to connect the community easily without social media... and help us implement it! Cheers and love! So happy to have you here!
